Kavala Yachting:
Where the Aegean Blue Meets Freedom

Leaving the port of Kavala behind, with the iconic Aqueduct and the imposing Fortress shrinking on the horizon, the world of the mainland fades and absolute freedom takes the helm. The boat glides over the water, the sound of the waves gently lapping the hull becomes your only rhythm, and the smell of freshly brewed coffee on deck mingles with the saltiness of the air. Here, time stops being measured in seconds and starts being measured in nautical miles and dives into waters so crystal clear you feel like you're floating. Happiness is hidden in a secluded beach on Thassos, accessible only by sea, where friends share stories under the hot sun and the boat heels, obeying the command of the wind.

Story Behind It

The heart of Kavala Yachting beats with the passion of a family that made the sea their home. It all started in 1990, when Theodoros Giannakoudis, a man with deep naval knowledge, founded one of the first sailing schools in the region. Having trained more than 70 classes of students, he didn't just teach people how to travel, but how to love and respect the water. In 2004, the business set sail into the charter sector, and today his daughter, Danai —raised on boats and with 15 years of experience— continues the vision with a modern perspective, combining professional excellence with the warmth of family hospitality.

Why We Love It

We love it because it shatters the myth that yachting is a privilege for the few. Danai and her team make you feel like "part of the crew" from the very first moment, offering a personalized experience rarely found in large companies. Whether it's the day cruises that unlock the magic of the Aegean in a few hours, or the Bareboat Charters that grant absolute autonomy, the attention to detail is everywhere: from the impeccable maintenance of the boats to the "insider" tips for anchoring in Thassopoula or the coasts of Chalkidiki. It’s their way of making you fall in love with the North Aegean through spots found in no tourist guide.

Fresh Tips

  • The Sunset Cruises are a life experience; watching the sun dip into the Aegean against the backdrop of Kavala’s old town is breathtaking.
  • Day cruises last about 8 hours and are ideal for exploring the southern part of Thassos with your group.
  • If planning a multi-day charter to the Sporades or Chalkidiki, make sure to book several months in advance, especially for the high season.
  • Use the skipper's knowledge to find hidden tavernas in bays accessible only by boat — that's where the true taste of Greece is hidden.
  • Wear soft shoes with white soles (deck shoes) to move safely on deck without damaging it.
  • Be the Crew: Even if you are a beginner, don't hesitate to ask the skipper to actively participate in sail handling.
